Painting found me during one of the hardest seasons of my life. In the quiet of a large, light-filled room that had belonged to my late father, I picked up a brush — and something shifted.

That was the beginning. What started as a refuge became a calling.

I am a self-taught abstract and impressionistic painter based in Birmingham, Alabama. I work primarily in acrylics, building layers with brushes, palette knives, catalyst wedges — and yes, sometimes my fingers. My process is deeply intuitive, driven by nostalgia, hope, and the desire to transfer the weight and joy of lived experience onto the canvas.

 

My work has been featured in House & Garden UK, The World of Interiors, and HGTV's My Lottery Dream Home, and exhibited at Agora Gallery in New York, Capital Culture House in London and Madrid, and M.A.D.S. Art Gallery in Milan, among others. I am also a published children's author.

In late 2021 I moved into a dedicated home studio — and with it, the room to work large. More recently, a new build-out has given that practice an even more intentional home. I've hung my coastal paintings across the walls in a little display I've called 'Beach House.' My mother's easel stands at the center of it all. I've sprinkled in a few nostalgic items that warm the space, reminding me of how special this gift of painting is.
